>Day 12 from the ISAF Worlds

>Good morning  USSTAG fans —

BIG day on the water yesterday for Team USA. Erik and Trevor rolled a 1-3-3 on the 49er course and now sit in 2nd place after 6 races. Mark and Brian rolled a 4-4 in the Star and sit in third. We’ve got a great battle brewing in the laser, as Clay and Brad have essentially the exact same score line. And in the 470 women, Amanda and Sarah and Erin and Iz ended the day a lot closer together than they started, and those Trials are far from over. Big day, indeed. Here is Dana’s report on yesterday’s action.

Today looms large. The Laser, Star, 49er, RS:X Men and 470 Trials all continue today, as all five classes are in action again. Eight more spots on the 2012 Olympic Team are up for grabs. Who wants it most? We’ll find out a lot today. For those following along, here is the link to the results of the event so far.

And also today, Team Maclaren is back in action. Anna, Molly and Debbie have been sitting on the sidelines for a couple of days, just practicing, waiting for the rest of the quarterfinal matchups to be determined. They are the #2 seed going into the quarters and have drawn a match against the Australian team, led by Nikki Souter. There should be a rowdy crowd for the home team today, and we’ll do our best to match their noise from shore.

Big day for the good guys. This new Trials system of using international events instead of the typical USA-only domestic event has been a success so far. We’re seeing which teams are the most ready to compete against the best of the world. That’s the standard that will matter next year, so that’s the standard that we care about most this year.

That’s it from Perth. Have a great day, wherever in the world you are.
