>Day 15 from the ISAF Worlds

>Good morning USSTAG fans… we’re getting close to wrapping things up down here in Perth, but we have some business to attend to first. Big day today! Mark Mendelblatt and Brian Fatih qualified for the 2012 Olympic Team in the Star class yesterday. They’re also sitting in 2nd place overall and their medal race is today.

In the 470 women’s class, Amanda Clark and Sarah Lihan, and Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Farrar are in a literal dead heat. Erin and Iz had a three point lead in the standings coming into this event, and here in Perth, Amanda and Sarah have a three point lead. That translates into a tie, with two races to go today. And there is also plenty of action in the Laser class today, with the 2012 Games spot still very much up for grabs.

Here is the link to the latest results.

The big news from yesterday’s action was the gold medal performance from Anna Tunnicliffe, Molly Vandemoer and Debbie Capozzi in the women’s match racing. They blitzed the GBR team, beating them 4-0 and giving them five penalties in the four races. It was an outstanding performance and huge congratulations to these three ladies and their coach, Dave Dellenbaugh. Here is Dana Paxton’s daily report from yesterday.

It’s also a big day for Erik Storck and Trevor Moore in the 49er. They had an outstanding day yesterday and are sitting in 5th overall with three races today.

We’ve only got a couple of days left here in Perth, but lots has to happen before we wrap things up. We hope you’ll continue following along. The team is doing great, and we all should be very proud of the effort.

Have a great day.
