>Final Thoughts from Perth

>I’m sitting here in the Sydney Airport, after the first of three legs on the long trip home to the east coast USA.

It’s been a long trip down here, for everyone. Some of our athletes have been training in Australia since Halloween. If that’s not dedication, then I don’t know what is. And our staff and coaches have been down here for 3-4 weeks each. Our entire program committed to this event, and it showed. We won more medals here (3) than at any previous ISAF Olympic Class Worlds. And we are clearly on a good track in several other events as well. We’ve selected 13 of our 16 2012 Olympians (with only the match racers remaining, to be selected in May 2012). We “country qualified” for the Games in 9 of 10 events. And, perhaps most importantly, we test drove a totally new Trials system that worked.

It was an epic trip, with lots to be proud of.

We have seven months to go until the Olympic Games and just about nine until the Paralympic Games. We’re on track and we continue to make huge progress.

They just called me flight… got to run. But on behalf of the entire US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics, I want to thank our sponsors, donors, families, friends, supporters, and fans of our team. This is an incredible group of young athletes. Every American sailor can and should be proud of the effort given down under.

Now we focus on our Paralympic Trials, and then begin our final preparations for the Games next year.

Thanks for following along, and we’ll be in touch again soon.

Sail fast,

Dean Brenner
